Le Jacquard Francais

The Story of a French House

The story of Le Jaquard Francais started in 1861 when Benjamin Baer, moved to the east of France to work at a "fabric manufacturer"

Upon his death in 1888, his partner Nathan Levy and his brother Elie took over his business and created a new company. The two brothers grew their empire at a fast pace, acquiring mechanical weaving workshops and bleaching workshops.

During the Second World War, their business was completely destroyed, forcing them to rebuild. After being acquired by the ELIS group, the company was renamed Le Jacquard Francais in 1974.

A Unique Style

Le Jaquard Francais created a unique style when their collaboration with the famous stylist Primrose Bordier started in 1978.

Primrose revolutionised home decors by creating colourful and original textile designs. Home linens became a fashion accessory for every house.
